Tea Really Does Help You Concentrate

A little known fact about tea is that it can help you to laser focus your concentration on what needs to be done right now. Want to bulldoze your way through that pile of paper work that has building up? Well, take a 20 minute break and make your self a decent cup of tea.

Any tea will do whether it’s Green, Oolong or Black tea but, as usual, you should generally stay away from tea bags if you want any real health benefits. It also doesn’t matter if the tea has caffeine or not although caffeine has been demonstrated to sharpen focus and even improve your memory.

The active component in tea that produces this wonderful focus and commitment to finish those boring tasks, (!), is an amino acid called theanine and it is all natural.

There has been a number of studies done which basically revolve around giving people theanine rich tea and then giving them a challenging mental task which required “looking and listening” brain activity.

Their brains became rejuvenated or specifically, the right parietooccipital cortex lit up like a disco light at a tea party. Well, you get the drift… The right parietooccipital cortex is the specific part of the brain related to attention span.

Just to mention caffeine one last time, there is some suggestion that this works synergistically with theanine to assist in preventing those really annoying distractions which really cut into your productivity.

And what about the Alpha Brain Activity I hear you ask! I’m glad you mentioned it. Brain waves are generally classified Alpha, Beta, Theta and Delta with Delta being associated with the deepest stages of sleep. Alpha activity is associated with a relaxed and effortless alertness, (hence the focus and concentration), which also give a “feel good” feeling. Theanine plays a major part in producing these very beneficial alpha waves usually after about 30 minutes or so after ingestion.

Here’s another great thing about theanine in tea, it produces no drowsiness. Imagine that, relaxation, focus, great Alpha waves and you don’t feel like dropping off to sleep in front of the computer.

And, just when you thought there was little else this blockbuster of a tea amino acid could do you should consider that it is also reputed to be a great stress buster. People under stress can moderate many of the burdensome effects of stress by taking a theanine rich tea without becoming sedated in the process.

An additional action to consider is a few minutes closing your eyes with gentle relaxation to further improve focus and concentration.

Modern research now tells us that Theanine has a strong and positive effect in regressing cancerous tumors and also reduces the toxicity associated with chemotherapy. [Source School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Shizuoka. ISSN 0304-3835]. All this from a cup of tea!

And remember that Theanine is extremely safe, is not affected by food and may be taken anytime. There are no dietary limits with the exception of infant foods and a normal sensible precaution would be to consult your health care professional when pregnant or nursing.

==

Buying tea from a reputable source ensures you receive a product bursting with as many natural amino acids and antioxidants as possible. This is because we, as serious tea buyers and users, understand the importance of preserving all the natural goodness for a naturally healthy way of life. Unfortunately most of the article and website content is written by people who have little knowledge of Oolong Tea or the industry itself. If you type “Oolong Tea” into Ezine Articles you are returned 25,599 results most of which are self serving mis-information.

We invite you to see a video of our Oolong Tea Masters at work and take an insider peek into how we produce your fabled Wu Yi Oolong Tea. Find out the relationship between Oolong production and weight loss polyphenols. All is revealed below.

Our Oolong Tea Production Video

If YouTube Is Down For Maintenance It Reports Videos as Being “No Longer Available”.
If you see that message below this is the reason. Our videos are ALWAYS online

4,700 Years As A Chinese Natural Health Miracle!

Oolong Is A Difficult Child

Oolong tea is the most difficult of all teas to produce. This is because of the extra processes involved and the degree of knowledge required by a Tea Master to understand and perfect each process.

To take a simplistic view, a simple green tea may require no more than plucking the leaves with a quick steam and dry before it can be sold and a common black tea may just be oxidized for a certain period of time. As stated this is a simplification to illustrate a point and there is a lot of knowledge required in the production of green and black teas.

Complications

The complications with Oolongs is that they use only part processes depending upon the level of oxidization required so obviously knowing when to say “stop” makes quite a difference! The leaves themselves are subjected to varying atmospheric conditions so no crop of plucked leaves are ever exactly the same. It is for this reason that to produce an excellent tea it is not possible to completely automate the process with a rigid checklist.

A good Tea Master has an inbuilt “feel” for what is right and this is demonstrated in the video above. Here’s a brief explanation of the various processes involved when making an Oolong tea.

Quick Note: With regard to the weight loss properties of Oolong tea it has been demonstrated that it is the Polyphenols are the important factor. More on this in another post but it is important to note that Polyphenols are produced by the process of oxidation and the level of oxidation is critical if you want an Oolong that can help you with natural weight loss. Too little oxidation and you have few beneficial weight loss polyphenols and too much oxidation and they have all disappeared.

The Great Oolong Wulong Tea Ripoff: It is a fact that most of the weight loss websites promoting Oolong tea actually have no idea what they are talking about. There are many, many people being ripped off by all the low quality tea dust being sold in bags on eBay specifically, and online in general. If they mention Oprah you know they are scamming you straight away.

Oolong Tea Production

After plucking of the buds and leaves, withering is the process of placing the leaves in the sun for eight or more hours which starts to dry the leaves.

The leaves are then gently bruised by shaking or rolling which starts the oxidation process. The production of low oxidation Oolongs would end here after being pan fried or perhaps air dried. This effectively ends the oxidation and manufacture of this Oolong variation.

A second variation demands slightly more oxidation and as can be seen on the diagram above the leaves are only partially dried and rolled. This rolling can be repeated many times before the leaves are given a final drying and perhaps a baking ending the oxidation process at approx 25%.

The third Oolong variation which produces a high level of oxidation means the Oolong is starting to approach something like a black tea. There is an additional wetting / softening process directly after the rolling. The leaves are then left to rest and dry out partially in the air before being re-rolled and going through a final drying process.
